Colour My World

I don’t recall if I’ve posted this before but I’m sure that someone will call my ass out if I have. In a nutshell: Colour photographs from the World War One era. Check it out.

Damn! I suppose if I had the extra cash sticking around I’d hire a plane to fly a banner that said how awesome I am.
(Via Momus) Jarvis Cocker explains the correlation between art school and pop music in a three-part BBC audio series. Realplayer required.
Last Night’s Party was five kinds of awesome. Why wasn’t I invited?
Skype has recently released the 1.5 version for Mac OS X with video chat. Skype audio quality is excellent however when trying out the video chat with a friend I found it to cut in and out. And this is with Skype being the sole application running on my fairly new machine.
I had actually planned on recording a podcast tonight as I had the rare opportunity of having several friends on Skype at the same time but I wasn’t able to sort out the software side of things. Afterwards, I did manage to find an excellent tutorial on how to record using Audio Hijack. It’s worth checking out. If anyone is interested in being featured in the next podcast, let me know.
Architecture blog Mocoloco has a feature on the Hanse Colani Rotor House which in my words can be best described as a lazy susan of rooms. I doubt the practicality of it. I don’t doubt that I want it regardless.
I’m updating the Flashcube.org theme to something a little more awesome. Please be patient.
Watch The Dark Side for free via the PBS website. Here’s the synopsis
Amid revelations about faulty prewar intelligence and a scandal surrounding the indictment of the vice president’s chief of staff and presidential adviser, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, FRONTLINE goes behind the headlines to investigate the internal war that was waged between the intelligence community and Richard Bruce Cheney, the most powerful vice president in the nation’s history.

When I listen back to my podcasts sometimes I’m appalled it the amount of stammering I do. Mostly it’s the podcasts that I record when drinking where the word “like” seems to, like, you know creep into every other word. Mother Tongue Annoyances has a post on how to remove such filler from your every day speech. In a nutshell, think before you speak.
Essembly is yet another fucking social networking site. The difference between it and say MySpace is that it tries to associate people based upon political leaning. If that’s your thing then check it out. If not then there’s always the glitter-texted comments on MySpace.
Hey, I hate tele-marketers as much as the next asshole but my disgust has nothing on this crazy bitch that The Consumerist has a recording of. I don’t use the word crazy lightly either. Be prepared for eight minutes of the most insane phone-call I have ever, ever heard. And don’t forget, Flashcube.org loves you.
Kudos to the person who uploaded this video to YouTube. So many memories.
Okay, so some genius has figured how to use the Nike iPod thing to work with regular running shoes. The key: velcro. What the fuck!?
As a runner this interests me. Mostly because I don’t have to run in Nikes which from what I’ve heard aren’t the best. Yes, I know I’m succumbing to marketing by actually thinking about buying this thing but it panders to a male’s base need of gadgets. Why deny that.
Also, I wrote a song today. I recorded it on the digital voice recorder that I use for the other podcast. I’m thinking of doing a podcast concert thing if there is such a thing.
One more thing: what’s the deal with all the softcore porn that Showcase has been showing on Friday nights lately? I suppose that the previous sentence indicts me as someone who watches it but really, other than infomercials what else is on between 1:35 and 3:35AM?
Has to be seen to be believed. Best quote:
“You know something, after watching the mulattos shake it, I can absolutely understand why Brazil is totally devoted to my favorite body part, the ass.”
I think I may finally be getting the hang with this whole podcast thing. This episode Joel and I talk out our ass about a potential choose-your-own-videocast type thing that’s in the works. We’ll be filming this week. Then it’s a matter of finding a host for the file. Everything is pretty much up in the air, so as soon as I know you’ll know. We also discuss camping, trans fats and Deepak Chopra.
UPDATE: Podcast issues being sorted. Give me a day or so.
Seems to have sorted itself out. Crazy

System Error Discovered
This morning, betweeen the hours of approximately 12:45am eastern to 1:45, Libsyn servers experienced a crucial distribution error on its CDN that resulted in the erroneous distribution of files on some user accounts. The problem has been identified and resolved, however during the time of the error period, affected user accounts may have had the wrong files distributed to subscriptions and direct downloads that called for files. We are extremely sorry for the confusion and surprise that this may cause the subset of audiences that have been affected by this unusual error. While this was a temporary and limited issue, it may have real unintended consequences to some individuals; we fully understand the magnitude of delivering the wrong file, even one mis-matched file is one too many.
Ping Pong is one of my favorite movies for several reason. One of which is the soundtrack which is almost all Supercar. Secondly, it’s about Ping Pong so it can’t be beat. I picked up my bootleg copy in Chinatown but I’m tempted to fork out for the deluxe edition DVD.
But this post isn’t about the film but rather about this clip that I found on YouTube (via Digg).
I remember watching “Warriors of the net” back when I made the ill-fated career decision of going to school to learn how to be a network administrator (to the tune of $15,000). That didn’t exactly pan out. I mean I graduated and all but I didn’t really want to even do it once I finished. Oh well. Now I’m an HTMl and CSS monkey. Who fucking knew?
This is still a neat film if you’ve a mild interest in computer networking. It traces an information packet (okay, porn) from source to destination. Being nerdy has never been more fun.
